Seedlings - Wild Lupine (Native)

$5.00

Wild lupine (lupinus perennis) is the native lupine in Maine, also called “Sundial” lupine. When I bought my farm, it had non-native lupine on the property. I am swapping in this native version to better support the pollinators.

Not to be a downer, but a lot of folks don’t realize that when you see fields and fields of lupine, it looks pretty, but you’re looking at a monoculture of a non-native plant that has outcompeted all other plants, resulting in a lack of biodiversity to support the pollinators. By being mindful of what you plant, and planting native lupine, you can build a more resilient habitat that offers a sort of flower buffet for pollinators like Frosted Elfin, Duskywings, Eastern Persius, Wild Indigo, and the endangered Karner Blue.

Please limit to two per household.
